Obviously , this year Covid has had an impact . Things have been difficult , but we ’ re confident we ’ ll get back to our charitable ways this year . Be sure to keep and eye out for events this year such as raffles and LMSS Strictly Come Dancing - maybe you could even be one of our contestants ? The opportunities within the LMSS don ’ t end there . We have a huge range of sports teams that are eager for you all to join including hockey , football , netball , rugby , tennis and squash . All captains will hopefully be at our freshers fair to answer any questions you may have . We also encourage you to join Artefacts , which is the medical student performing arts society . They have a drama , dance , band and even backstage team that are very active throughout the year . In short , the LMSS strives to provide an environment where you all feel very welcome . We really want to ensure you feel supported academically , socially and with any wellbeing needs so if you do have any questions at all , big or small , please get in contact with me or any of the lovely committee members ! I remember how daunting the start of university can be so please remember that we are here for you . We also rely on you to improve our society in the future , so ALL feedback is greatly received . I cannot recommend the LMSS enough , I ’ ve been part of the society since I was a fresher and I ’ ve been so lucky to meet some of my best friends through the society , its sports teams , and Artefacts ( Disclaimer : I have no musical talent but still felt very welcome ). I want you all to finish your time at medical school and feel the same way so get involved and no matter what , just be yourself and have fun ! Hello everyone ! My name is Oscar , and I am the LMSS Secretary for 2021 / 22 . I want to start by saying congratulations , firstly , for getting into medical school , but also for choosing Liverpool ! Liverpool is truly an unbelievable city to be a student in . Five years ago I came here ( having only got one offer ) and I would not change it for the world . I have made so many wonderful friends and done so many things that I will remember forever . Without rambling on , I will leave you with this … make the most of your time because it flies by ! Join societies , join sports teams , go to social events , go to academic events , make the most of Liverpool , because in five years ’ time you will sit there and wish you could do it all over again . Enjoy your summer , we can ’ t wait to welcome you to Liverpool soon .
