With more than 150 radio stations,
online stations included, one has a
handful of talk shows to pick from,
shows that cleanse their topical
palates. As to which show favors
their issues of interest, most talk
shows focus on issues of human,
political, social and economic
interests.
These types of shows are aimed
to educating the public about
the issues they encounter in their
everyday lives, to share different
opinions and perceptions about
various issues not only in the coun-
try but worldwide.
Power FM, SA FM, Cape Talk, 702
Talk Radio, Lekker FM, Lotus FM
and Pretoria FM are a few of South
Africa’s number one talk radio
stations, all with various audience
whom they strive to use their plat-
form in order to tackle the issues
their listeners deem interesting.
In 2017, Lotus FM scooped an
award for the best news and ac-

Awards for Walk the Talk with Alan
Khan.
good can come out of it. The
likes of Xolani Gwala, Iman
Rappetti, Redi Tlabi, and
Eusebius McKaizer are a few
of South Africa’s best talk show
hosts, their ability to make a
listener fall in love with talk radio
is amazing. They serve the main
purpose of talk radio, which is to
have intellectual engagements
with their audience.
Stay tuned to your favourite talk
radio station.
This yet another way of showing
that although community radio
stations are still on the low, most
people like talk shows where they
are given an opportunity to share
and express their opinions on cer-
tain issues even at community
level and community radio stations
need to invest more in those kinds
of issues.
This is to change the perception
of people who think that radio is
only for entertainment and nothing
