TALK RADIO UNPACKS
CRITICAL ISSUES
Let me take you back to the years when radio was the main
source of information, when we had to use our own imagina-
tion to paint the perfect picture of the characters of our favorite
radio drama. Radio has been a part of our identity as South Afri-
cans from 1923, when broadcasting became a thing in our land.
We moved from music shows to radio dramas, to radio game
shows then talk radio was introduced. Talk radio stations consists
of mainly discussion shows where the listener and broadcast-
er are given the opportunity to speak on issues of their interest,
rather having music shows dominating the airwaves.
These particular stations allow for listener participation as the
voice of the listener drives the show.
