The Live Oak Emerald Regime is a Morgan Hill tradition having
performed in the Morgan Hill July 4th Parade every year since
1971, when they were formed. They took a first place in the
Band competition and a second place in the Flag Team division. Students from the Sifu Meng Academy have won over 180
gold medals, and 85 silver medals. The Academy, which has
six locations in the Bay Area, teaches all Kung Fu programs and
weapons as well as gymnastics, and dragon dancing. This
dragon was really awesome!
W.E.R.C., the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center
in Morgan Hill, rehabilitates orphaned and injured wildlife so they
can be returned to their local habitats. On the float were several
of the non-releasable education animals. They won a first place
in Floats, Amateur and Non-profit. The Interfaith CommUnity of South County’s entry highlights
Angel Island and Ellis Island, two National Parks that remind us
that we all came to this country as immigrants searching for the
opportunities and freedoms offered in the United States
