Pop Warner is the only youth football, cheerleading and dance organization that requires its participants to maintain academic standards in order to participate. They took home the first place trophy in Non-commercial Youth Activities. California Classics Baton Club twirlers are dressed in their U.S.A. costumes in honor of the 4th. Members are between 6 and 11 years old and are from Salinas and Morgan Hill. The local girls all attend St. Catherine School, and are in the Baton Club, which began this year. 2017 marked the 16th year the Arroyo High School March- ing Dons had been in the Morgan Hill 4th of July Parade. Their music director is Vernon Miyata, a Live Oak High School graduate! Their flag team scored a second place in the High School Flag Team division. The Forty & Eight Voiture 365 Group meet at the American Legion Post 564 in Santa Clara. It’s operated by members of the American Legion West Valley Memory Post 99 in Campbell. This is a replica of a 1917 French steam engine train that moved the Doughboys from the loading dock to the war front in 1918. One of the most applauded entries in the parade —the hardwork- ing Western Ranch Hand!!! This clown is a member of the San Martin Horsemen’s Association and won a first place medal in the Western Ranch Hand division! HAPPY BIRTHDAY America H Morgan Hill Freedom Fest 2018 We were honored to have retired Army Major James Allen Taylor in the parade. He is a recipient of the United States military’s highest decoration, the Congressional Medal of Honor, for his valiant actions in the Vietnam War. 27
