Boy Scout Troop 799 won the 1st Place trophy in the Push / Pull
Float division. From a log cabin to the Granda Theater, the four
push/pull floats hand-made by the Boy Scouts was an innovative
way to represent the Parade’s theme of “America, My Home
Sweet Home.” This unusual looking little car is the Corbin Sparrow, a high effi-
ciency electric commuter car. Production is scheduled to begin in
2017 – built by Americans in Hollister, CA
The members of this high stepping drill team are from the local
American Association of University Women organization. The
AAUW promotes equality and education for all women and girls. Winning 1st Place in the Novelty Band division was the
Sandoshin Taiko drumming group. Sandoshin Taiko, which
means “dragon’s mountain pass,” was formed in 2000.
Marching in the 2016 parade were several of the ladies from
the Oriental Shrine Organization, Ankh Court #92. Their
mission is to raise money for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital
in Sacramento and their other 21 hospitals in the United States,
Canada, and Mexico. The Santa Clara County Horsemen’s Association won two
1st Place medals in the 2016 July 4th Parade, one for the
women’s division and one for the men’s division. They were
founded in San Jose in 1939, and is the oldest horse club in
the State of California. Those horses are beautiful!!
