We’re one day away from FS 2013, but it took more than a couple of good looking people and a marquee hire company to get us here. This is the story of bringing this night to fruition, from day one.
FS 2013 began nine months ago, and while some of us spent our summer holidays following the sun and/or transfixed to the television screen and the intricacies of beach volleyball, our Front of House team were getting to know each other, and their families, via skype. This was when a concept began to be formed, yet it was not until the January break that the crystallization of working ideas happened. In between, they
organised the freshers fayre and orchestrated the logistics of ticket sales. However this is their big week, putting in thirteen hour shifts daily, the FOH team are in the thick of it. What are they most looking forward to? The ten minutes before anyone arrives, that’s when they can take a moment to
realise what they’ve put together.
What has been most exciting from a FOH perspective? “This week. Everyday, the further we get into it...seeing our ideas happen.”
Working alongside FOH, the Events team have pulled off quite a feat. Our largest marquee to date, filling the entirety of Lower College Lawn, it’s taken nine months from concept to construction. They’ve still got work to do though, only once the transition phase between the show and after party has been pulled off can they hit the dance floor.
With all these plans taking shape, the Sponsorship team have been sweet-talking our corporate sponsors. Working with major brand PR agencies and communication directors of national brands, such as Swarovski and P&G, has been an exceptional experience for the team. The auction list has just been released, and the positive reaction we’ve had thus far is a happy precursor to what we hope will be an electrifying bidding contest during the interval. Importantly, the champagne has
arrived, and we’re set to go.
Speaking of sponsors, the Alfa Romeo Young Designer Award has gone from strength to strength over the past three years. With a record number of entries, of a consistently high quality, this years five finalists have set the bar even higher for this graduate level design competition. The winner of the award will be announced at the Fairmont on the afternoon of the show; the exciting conclusion of a process which began at graduate
fashion week last June.
