HAP and REACH: Summer 2018
Two hundred and thirty-six rising 8th graders participated
in our Higher Achievement Program (HAP) in its 42nd year
at the Prep. The program is led by Brad Serton ’95, HAP
Director, and his core staff of David Gelpi, Matt Distefano,
Fifty-three rising 6th graders participated in the second
summer of the REACH program at the Prep. REACH
(Recruiting Excellence in Academics for Catholic High
Schools) is an educational and leadership program that
prepares rising 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to earn
scholarships to leading Catholic high schools in New York
City. After a three-week residential program at Fordham
University and the Prep, the students went to Regis High
School for a three-week day program. Special thanks to
Prep faculty Sarah Bruni, Ryan Fedak ’09, Randy Pedro and
Brent Ward ’92 for their dedicated work as REACH faculty
and staff this summer.
