Diseases resulting from poor nutrition
Anorexia nervosa is characterized by extreme thinness, a relentless pursuit to lose more weight, intense fear of gaining weight, distorted body image and an extremely restricted diet. Anorexic people are usually 10-15% below their optimum weight and despite that, they are under the constant pressure to lose more weight.
Bulimia is characterized by recurrent episodes of eating large amounts followed by a behavior that compensates the overeating such as forced vomiting, fasting, excessive exercise, or excessive use of laxatives.
Binge-eating disorder means that a person loses complete control over his or her eating. Therefore, people with this disorder are usually overweight and have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
Diabetes could also develop from an unbalanced diet. Oftentimes, establishing good nutrition and exercise habits can prevent diabetes from developing.
Anemia could also develop from poor nutrition. It occurs when red blood cells are unable to carry enough oxygen to your body’s cells. If your intake of iron is not that much, you could very well establish anemia. This is because iron is what makes up hemoglobin (what binds to oxygen). Therefore, increase your intake of iron and be cured of anemia.
