GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM - 1987
The only movie
that perhaps
in never called
a war movie
though I
would go for
it considering
the script
setting factor.
And the other
obvious
reason is of
course Robin
Williams.
Robin Williams in the movie as DJ Adrian
Perhaps
one of the best ever performances from the legend, the movie is about him
portraying Adrian Cronauer, who arrives in Vietnam to serve as a DJ for Armed
Forces Radio Service. The charm of Robin Williams is visible throughout his DJ
sequences.
The fun fact is that the movie is loosely based on the life of a real
Armed Forces Radio Services DJ Adrian Cronauer who was a former United
States Air Force Sergeant.
APOCALYPSE NOW - 1979
We all know that Francis Ford Coppola is one of the greatest film-makers of all
times. A naïve first look of Apocalypse Now will give you a feeling that this must
be the ultimate masterpiece a film-maker could create, if of course you have not
watched the epic Godfather movies. This highlights the credentials of Coppola. A
historically significant flick shot in an aesthetic manner, the film is an adaptation of
a novel and has shifted the settings from Congo as in the novel to the US Vietnam
War. The movie revolves around mission of rooting out Colonel Kurtz, played by
Marlon Brando, who is presumed to be insane. Considered widely as the greatest
movie on the Vietnam War, this is a unanimous feature on any ‘Greatest Movies
of All Times’ lists created by anybody across any part of the world.
