The Big Short is also an incredibly well-acted film, with an ensemble cast
comprising of Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt, who
manage to keep the tone of the film going. The humor in the film is dark, and
that is exactly what makes it more captivating. The Big Short is a must watch,
and it sure does deserve the accolades.
2. The Wolf of Wall Street
Based on- ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, by Jor-
dan Belfort
Accolades - Nominee, Academy Award for
the Best Adapted Screenplay, 2014
Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed 2013 film, The
Wolf of Wall Street, made Jordan Belfort, the
corrupt Wall Street stockbroker, a household
name. The absolute honesty and rawness of
the film is what makes it amazing. Despite
the partly fictionalized account of how the
actual events panned out, and the changes
made to facts and names due to legal issues,
the events were presented to the audience
with no holds barred. The audience, at some
point, is also able to get into the mind of
the protagonist and embark on the journey
and ride along as he rises and ultimately
becomes responsible for his own downfall, thanks to the cinematography, which
connects the visual imagery of the film to the psychology of the protagonist.
With instances of slapstick humor, coarse language and lots, and lots of R-rated
content, Scorsese scores another one with The Wolf of Wall Street.

relatable film.
