Driveway
For driveways intended to take the weight of vehicles we
recommend the cables are installed in a concrete slab for
protection. The cable mats should be installed between 2 layers
of concrete. Install the cable mat over the bottom layer and then
pour the top layer of concrete. The concrete mixture must not
contain sharp stones as these may damage the cable.

An ice detector for the economical
control of ice prevention and snow
melting cables used on driveways,
ramps and exterior steps. The use
of an ice detector will reduce
energy consumption by
approximately 80% compared to
control by a simple air thermostat.

Ice Detector &
Combined Sensor
The ice detector, equipped with a
combined temperature and moisture
ground sensor, monitors conditions and determines the optimum
switch-on time so that the heating comes on in good time to
prevent ice formation. Unnecessary waste of energy is avoided as the
system is only activated when there is ice or snow present.
Pavement
The cables should be installed in a sand bed just below the
concrete paviour.
