Diversifying Your Opportunities with Andrew Levingston

Over the years , AfMA and Swinburne University ’ s Diploma of Leadership & Management , a program contextualised for the fleet and auto industries , has helped countless future leaders gain traction in their careers , often in unexpected ways .
One such person is Andrew Levingston . He is currently the Plant , Fleet , and Depots Manager for the Armidale Regional Council . We have caught up with him and he has shared the opportunities that have come his way since completing the Diploma .
Before taking the Diploma , Andrew managed the plant fleet and workshop business for the Armidale Regional Council .
“ My career goal was to diversify into asset and project management with a focus on leadership ,” he said .
When asked what made him interested in the Program and what led him to taking the Diploma , Andrew explained ,
“ I wanted to update my knowledge [ of ] Management as I completed a Diploma in Business Management about 10 years prior .”
“ What interest [ ed ] me was the leadership and emotional intelligence components as after such critical thinking , and problem-solving , plus the relevant content to the Fleet Industry .”
Throughout the Diploma , Andrew has learned about tools that made a difference in his day-to-day work .
“ The biggest learnings for me were project management and the tools provided to establish an effective project management plan . Other standouts were tools such as establishing systems to develop trust , confidence , and the development of networks and relationships .”
