Up front, Brock’ s line features the most change on offense in 2025. Roger, Logan Wofford and Waylon Winfrey were the names mentioned by Mathis as impactful players on both sides of the ball.
Roger’ s confidence in the unit ties into the collective feeling of a tighter bond amongst the team and he thinks the inside running game will be a strength for the offense.
The biggest challenge for Brock that they’ ve worked on since the Carthage loss is the physicality. Constant work in the weight room to be bigger and stronger than last year has been the focus of workouts.
“ Getting so close the past three years has been hard. This year we want it all,” said Matlock.
Roger immediately followed Matlock’ s answer, stating,“ We definitely have the team to do it this year.”
If a Carthage rematch is meant to be, Mathis said there are 10 games before Brock can think about taking on the defending champs. For the head coach, it’ s about adding wrinkles to the game plan from every game and not just from the state semifinal loss.
Preaching the motto“ Be the light,” the Eagles continue to focus on the fundamentals of their game and representing the program on and off the field.
But Brock doesn’ t forget how 2024 ended in the 45-17 loss to the Bulldogs.
“ We got a little bit of a bad taste in our mouth finishing the way we did so we want to go and be the absolute best that we can be,” Mathis said.
