When asked what positions may break out in 2025, Matlock assured that linebackers and the secondary will further the tradition of a defense that stops the run and is hard to score on.
Offensively, Matlock is part of a large number of returners at the skill positions. Matlock was the leading receiver for Brock in 2024 with 43 receptions for 800 yards and 18 touchdowns. He’ ll be joined by the likes of Charles Hibbler and Braeden Ray, who Mathis said were contributors last year and will step up.
Despite the loss of Coty Farmer, Mathis is excited to have Bryer McDonald and Dash Lindsey in the backfield. McDonald received the most carries last season with 112 and was the touchdown leader among all rushers.
Under center, Matlock and Roger praised the new quarterback for the Eagles, Holt Frazier. Coming up from JV, Frazier has shared time with Ray at the position this summer.
