f. Rooms or areas shall be classified generally as light (low) hazard, ordinary (moderate) hazard, or extra (high) hazard. Limited areas of greater or lesser hazard shall be protected as required. g. On each floor level, the area protected and the travel distances shall be based on fire extinguishers installed in accordance with Tables 1 and 2. 2. Size and Placement a. Class A Hazards i. The protection requirements shall be permitted to be fulfilled with fire extinguishers of higher rating, provided the travel distance to such larger fire extinguishers does not exceed fifteen meters (15 m). iii. In cases where building spaces are compartmentalized or separated from each other by fire barriers, each compartment not exceeding the maximum protection area specified Table 9 shall be provided with at least one (1) fire extinguisher. b. Class B Hazards (other than for fires in flammable liquids of appreciable depth). i. Fire extinguishers for the different types of Class B hazards shall be provided on the basis of Table 10. 115
