Analysis by Occupational Structure
Across all job categories, Malaysian employees received bonus ranging from 0.9 to 1.6 month (refer to
Figure 2.29). Managers and Skilled Agricultural, Forestry & Fishery job categories received marginally
higher median bonus payout when compared to the rest of the job categories. On the other hand,
Elementary Occupations job category received the least bonus amount at about 0.9 month.
As for Foreign full-time employees, the bonus payout range was wide between 0.3 to 1.3 month across
all job categories, except for Managers category which received 1.3 month of average bonus payout
respectively. Foreign employees within the semi-skilled and low-skilled categories received a lower
bonus when compared to Malaysian employees.

Further breakdown into the establishment size comparison for respective job categories reveals that
Large establishments paid a higher bonus for their employees across all job categories with employees
within the Managers category receiving nearly two months’ bonus.
