Figure 1.3 shows how the distribution of establishments differs across states in Malaysia. Most of the
establishments were concentrated in the Central Region (i.e. WP Kuala Lumpur, WP Putrajaya and
Selangor), which in total represented to about one third of the establishments in NER 2018. Sarawak
state ranked third in terms of the number of establishments.
