Hackett was found in 1979 by Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings. From the beginning, Hackett has always sold very traditional British clothing just like Paul Smith X Harry Styles. Hackett’s first store opened in 1983 in Parson’s Green. Second hand traditional British clothing and accessories were sold. It wasn’t until 1985 the founder’s decided to manufacture from new instead of selling second hand pieces. Hackett is a very successful clothing brand; in fact, the brand does a lot of sponsorships in the sporting industry. Hackett has sponsored the following; the England rugby team, Aston Martin racing team, Oxford and Cambridge boat race, ATP Tennis world tour finals, the Spanish Davis Cup and Chelsea football club.
Ted Baker was found in 1987 and set up in Glasgow, only selling menswear. It wasn’t until 1995 that Ted began his women’s line. This was when Ted Baker began to really thrive. Ted opened the first store in London in 1990 in Covent Garden. Then in 1998 Ted accomplished a massive achievement of opening his first standalone store in America. It was in New York. As well as that, Ted Baker officially went online. From that year, Ted was constantly opening shops all over the world. One of his busiest years to date was in 2004 when he opened 5 stores in San Francisco, Las Vegas, London, Stansted airport and Guildford. As well as thinking of expanding to Australia and New Zealand.
