Step 2 Secure Material Typical Rough Top Layout for Stone Plan for the Longest Spans Possible to Minimize Seams Use 1-5/8” Screws to Secure at Back Attatch Space Front Stretcher and Back Attatch Scews Aprox. 10’”to 12” apart Unsupported Ends Less than 4” are OK 4- 1-5/8” Screws Per Cabinet Side (Typical) Sink Do Not Terminate a Piece of Rough Top Within 3” of a Sink Cab or DW Opening 118 2.1 Secure the Rough Top to the Base Cabinets using #7 x 1-5/8” fl athead screws along all cabinet sides and back stretchers. Use #7 x 1-1/4” fl athead screws at locations where it is required to screw into a front stretcher. Place four screws from the front to back along each side member, and one screw about every 10” to 12” along the front and back of the cabinet run. Use 1-1/4” Screws at Front Stretcher and Any Joint Reinforcment Cleats DW OK to Make Roughtop Seam Over Center of 18” Wide Cabinet or Less if Reinforced 2.2 When fastening the Rough Top to the front stretch- er, never use screws that will protrude through the Rough Top and the front stretcher into a drawer or shelf space.
