Exotic Amazon fruit found in Hall 8

ONE of the most exotic fruits found at FHA2018 is the Achacha which originally thrived in the Amazon basin of South America. Ovoid in shape, this orange-coloured tropical fruit can be eaten by opening with a simple pierce-pop technique to reveal white edible pulp surrounding a soft seed.
The fruit is sweet, despite its low sugar content. It is also rich in vitamins and antioxidants. It has a unique flavour which taste experts have described as‘ sweet, tangy, refreshing, like a sorbet’.
It is also an excellent palate cleanser.
The good news at the show is that Asian consumers do not have to trek to the Amazon basin to sample this fruit. Palm Creek Plantation, which received a Plant Breeder’ s Right from the Bolivian Government to cultivate the fruit in its farm in North Queensland, Australia, is keen

to market the Achacha in various Asian markets soon.
But for FHA2018 visitors too impatient to wait for the
Achacha to arrive in their countries, make a beeline to booth 8C4-05 to sample this most exotic fruit.

Distributors wanted for Brazilian products

THE Brazilian trading company— 100 % Amazonia— is at booth 9E4-01, looking for distributors. It has developed lines of retail products and a range of food ingredients made from exotic Amazonia seeds, such as Acai, Acerola, and Brazilian nuts and native cocoa.
“ We have a range of 50 products from 25 exotic species of the Amazon. So we market to many different industries, from food and beverages to cosmetics,” says Fernanda Stefani, commercial director of 100amazonia. com.
“ Our exhibit at FHA2018 includes Amazon fruit jams, like the Acai jam, craft beer, chocolates and fruit powders.
“ We do private labels too, for example, a popular private label product is the Acai jam because the Acai berry is known to be healthy with high antioxidants.
“ Singapore is an attractive hub to come to showcase our offerings. I am enthusiastic to be here as I feel Singapore is
