Explore Italy, the planet of wine
THE Italian Pavilion at ProWine Asia
2018 is not only offering wines from some
of the best wineries in Italy but is also
educating visitors on the merits of various
vintages produced from each region of
Italy via its series of masterclasses.
Under the auspices of the Italian Trade
Commission, it is not only featuring fine
wines, but also their importers in Asia. For
example, Singapore-based wine importer
Alfa International has a number of Ital- ian wines in stock, including the Marenco
Strev Moscato D’asti DOCG 2016.
The Marenco winery has a history that
dates back to the beginning of the 1900s
when its founder dreamt of planting a
vineyard in the heart of the Bagnario
Valley, Strevi, an area especially suitable
to viticulture.
Straw yellow with intense aromas of
citrus, apricot, fig and orange blossom,
the wine’s taste is pleasantly sweet and
Giada Basso, Ca’ Di Rajo’s export manager for
Eastern Europe and Asia tempts visitors to try
Raboso “Sangre del Diavolo”. The Italian Pavilion offers masterclasses on
wines produced from different regions of the
country.

❝ Successful brands need to embrace
customer-centricity and embody strong so-
cial values for the greater good. The players
that do not match up to expectations, listen
to feedback or meet their brand promises
will fail. Brand experiences that inspire and
thrill will drive the emotional connection
required to sustain commercial success. ❞

aromatic like the Moscato grapes it comes
from. The alcohol content makes it a deli-
cious and natural thirst-quencher anytime
as well as a dessert wine par excellence.
Another highlight is the Elisabetta
Foradori Teroldego Rotaliano 2014 from
the Elisabetta Foradori winery situated in
Trentino between the Veneto, Trentino-
Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia
regions. Strong and generous, this wine is
compact and dense, and leaves a delicious
bitter aftertaste. It is the ideal companion
to traditional dishes, such as pizzoccheri.
On the other hand, wine importer
Intervino Singapore, which specialises
in Italian wines — stocking wines from
almost all 20 regions of Italy. Owner Nico-
las Leong says Intervino is also exporting
Italian wines to a related company in
Shanghai since 2007.
Found at his stand are Vigneri Rosso

with the inviting aromas of cherries. An-
other offering is the Murgo Brut Metodo
Classico 2014 which is 100% Nerello
Mascalese. The Metodo Classico is aged
on the lees for a minimum of two years
before disgorgement — allowing for a
complexity found in only the top sparkling
wine regions in the world.
In attendance at the show is a team
from the Ca’ di Rajo Winery, which is lo-
cated close to Conegliano — the historical
area of Prosecco production.
A highlight from them is the Raboso
Sangre del Diavolo made from Raboso
Piave, an autochthonous vine variety that
is the pride of the eastern part of Veneto.
Raboso Piave, characterised by its pow-
erful and fierce taste, can be co
