Explain the importance of maintaining your relationships and partnerships in Peru while simultaneously building your business in Chicago.
Maintaining my connection to Peru will always be a priority because those are my roots. It is where my career began, where many of my professional relationships were built, and where I still have wonderful clients who continue to contact me for custom pieces.
I also continue to develop seasonal collections for an important textile company in Peru, a relationship I have been fortunate to maintain since moving to the United States. They specialize in beautiful wool and alpaca textiles, materials that are also an important part of the work I create for my clients in Chicago.
What I love is that these two worlds are no longer separate. My work in Peru feeds my creativity in Chicago, and my experiences in Chicago give me a new perspective that I can bring back to Peru.
Many of my clients here are also drawn to the idea of experiencing something genuinely Peruvian, from the fabrics and craftsmanship to the warmth and personal attention behind the process. I may be building my business in Chicago, but Peru continues to be part of its heart.
