Words of Affirmation: This includes compliments, expressing gratitude and verbalizing things that you love about your mate. You don’t have to be a rockstar when it comes to talking about your feelings. This can come with practice. Start with being on the lookout for things that you appreciate and then practice saying “Thank you!” Once you have this down, start working on telling your partner how you feel when they do that thing you love. For example, when they grab for your hand in a crowded room or help you with a project or kiss you before they leave, let them know that makes you feel amazing and adored.
Acts of Service: Who doesn’t like a little help sometimes? Look for something you think your mate might need to do and do it! This can be little things that wind up going a long way, such as scraping the snow off your mate’s car after a snowfall or doing the dishes or laundry (especially if your mate normally takes care of those tasks!) This demonstrates thought for your mate and shows that you want to help make life a bit easier for them.
