Empowered by Style
How Personal Fashion Sparks Confidence from the Inside Out
BY LORA LAPRATT
F
ashion has always
been more than
fabric; it’s a
language, a mirror,
and, perhaps most
importantly, a tool for
empowerment. As a
personal stylist based in
the heart of Chicago,
I’ve had the privilege
of working with
women from all
walks of life. Time
and time again, I’ve
witnessed how
discovering and
embracing
one’s
unique
personal
style can
serve as a
catalyst for
confidence, clarity, and self-love.
In a world that constantly tells women how to look, what to wear, and who to be, personal style becomes a form of rebellion and ultimately, a form of liberation. It’s not about keeping up with trends or mimicking what’s on the runway. True empowerment comes when a woman wears what feels right to her. Clothing that reflects her identity, supports her lifestyle, and lifts her mood.
One of the greatest joys in my work is helping clients uncover that inner sense of style that’s been waiting to shine through. Often, we begin with a closet full of clothes, but little connection to what’s in it. That’s where the transformation begins. Through thoughtful
conversations and intentional styling sessions, we uncover patterns (both in fabric and in personality). Whether someone is drawn to bold prints, sleek tailoring, vintage textures, or minimalist palettes, there’s always a story behind those preferences. My job is to help decode that story and turn it into a style strategy that works for them.
