Lisa Kay, her daughter, captures another side of Virginia’s journey, “My mom always said she was a schoolteacher for the first 25 years of her life and a saloon keeper for the next 25. I used to think that was such a clever line. Over time, I’ve come to realize it’s not entirely true—because she never really stopped teaching. She just changed classrooms.”
Dylan, one of her grandsons, sums it up beautifully, “Few people possess the intangibles to be both great and virtuous. She is the mastermind behind an empire. And she is the glue that’s held this family together. Virginia (Nanny) is one of a kind, and she inspires me every day.”
Matthew, another grandson, adds, “Nanny is one of the most driven and hardworking people I know. She takes immense pride in everything she does and has always had a sharp eye for opportunity, especially in real estate. She’s taught me it’s not just interesting, it’s important to understand value and timing, especially if you want to spot opportunities the way she does.”
Coby, another grandson, shares his gratitude, “Nanny is the best grandma a grandchild could ask for. Though she would never admit it, she is hands down one of the smartest people I know. She has built an incredible empire and that is the reason I’m able to have the awesome life I have.”
Alexia, one of her granddaughters, reflects, “My Grandmother is not only a true visionary when it comes to business, always ahead of her time, but when it comes to her family she would do anything. She gives great advice, she has so much to share from her exciting and interesting life! I’m so lucky to be part of her life.”
Sofia, another granddaughter, echoes her sentiments, “My favorite memories with my grandmother are all the trips we have taken together around the world. To be able to experience new cultures, history, new foods and lots of adventures is priceless.”
I was personally befriended and mentored by Virginia Kay. She just loves living so she plans to be around a lot longer. There will most likely be a few more new chapters to report on so stay tuned.
