2. Accept yourself. Accepting yourself means accepting that you are a work in progress; you are constantly changing and evolving from every experience and with every new day. During the various developmental stages in your life, you have made decisions that have caused pain and resulted in deficiency as well as decisions that have caused joy and resulted in abundance. Accepting yourself acknowledges that with every decision, you did the best you could with what you knew at that moment, and where you were along your journey. I often say, “If I knew then what I know now, I would have made a different decision.” The truth is we cannot change our past so we must accept it and learn from every experience how to be more compassionate. There is no judgment when you choose to love yourself unconditionally. Making mistakes is an essential part of your journey to becoming a better you. As children we are taught that when we fall, we brush ourselves off and get right back up. Think of mistakes as learning lessons that teach you how to be better and prepare you for the next experience.
