succeed, but sometimes we’re doing our kids a disservice by not telling them the truth. Are we at a point in society where we’re afraid to give honest and constructive feedback to our kids? In today’s “everybody gets a trophy” culture, parents seem to frown on coaching a kid to get better and instead wants everyone to win. My 7-year old played on a baseball team where the league didn’t want his age group to keep score. How can you play a game and not keep score? Isn’t that the idea of competing against other teams? We’re so afraid that our kids will be disappointed by losing that we want to shield them from competition. It’s time for parents to man or woman up and stop telling our kids that their great at everything. Be encouraging but be honest.
