Which to Choose.

No two masterminds are alike, and like anything else, there are some far more worth the steep price tag than others. By steep, I really mean steep. These masterminds can cost up to six figures a year to join, though worthwhile ones can be as little (comparatively) as $10,000 annually. In deciding which group to join, the primary concern is who is facilitating the group. Indeed, the founder of each mastermind sets the branding standard for most groups. Not only do they create the program itself, but they select who will share the membership with you – in other words, they choose nearly every aspect of the room where it happens. Potential members must also make sure that the peer group they are entering consists of fellow executives from non-competitive industries, so they can freely share direct strategies for success and failures (versus mere general ideas) without reservation. Some groups also allow a sort of “look see” before requiring the full mastermind commitment.

For example, I am launching a mastermind group from an invitation-only event in Chicago this fall. This particular program, My Reality Cubed, augments the typical mastermind model to “capitalize on the full human potential of our leaders, enabling them to become visionaries in their industries and their lives.” It operates on the premise that humanism can be at the core of capitalist achievement. Unlike other masterminds, My Reality Cubed innovates 21st century disruptive leadership models, providing executives with the stamina necessary for professional and personal evolutionary leaps. Another distinguishing feature is that it will create synergies between its members that further titanic-sized success in corporate, artistic, entrepreneurial, political, and social arenas, while also creating a maximized sense of self. The event, consisting of TED-style talks and salon-type experiences, is designed to provide similar peer-to-peer benefits.
