Ahhhh…. the great outdoors! The beauty of nature, majestic mountains, an ice cold babbling brook and wildlife at every turn. Yes!! I love everything about the great outdoors….uh, minus the spiders, mosquitoes, snakes, lumpy sleeping bag and using a rock for a chair. Not to mention taking your bath in a creek. Yes, I’m more of a “Glamping” kind of girl. With glamping, you get all the wonder of the great outdoors, and none of the roughing. Instead of making “beer-can chicken” on an open campfire…I make reservations at a lovely 5-star resort restaurant. Glamping, or Glamorous Camping, pairs the world of luxury with an unforgettable destination experience. It’s for us travelers that like to take the “creature” out of comforts and truly enjoy the best parts of experiencing nature.
One of my most memorable glamping trips was several days spent with a group of family and friends in the heart of wine country in Sonoma, California at the luxurious Safari West. It was more like the Sonoma Serengeti. They have 400 lush acres filled with 900 exotic animals. One package they offered was Cheetahs and Chardonnay. Seriously… getting up close with an exotic cat while sipping a glass of amazing wine? How cool is that? Then there was “Winos and Rhinos,” same deal…different critter…you get the idea.
