How many more years will the burnt out wreck which has plagued High Town for five long years be allowed to haunt the city?
A year ago Festive News asked Herefordshire Council to allow the demolition of whats left of the front wall which would at
least get rid of the huge scaffolding eyesore. One prominent local builder said it was the most sensible suggestion put forward
to end the whole sorry saga. Aftrer all, when it is eventually rebuilt the façade will look exactly as it did before the Boxing
Day Fire .
The council blamed English Heritage for refusing to allow it to come down because it was a listed building. English Heritage
has told Festive News they only give advice and Herefordshire Council makes the final decision on the fate of a wongy bit of
brick wall. The businesses and people of Hereford vote for it to come down, saying ‘We want our city centre back.”
