6. What is your rank in Tiger System Karate (TSK)?

I am a 3 rd degree black belt in Tiger System Karate.

7. How did you get involved in Karate?

I started karate at the age of 18 when my friend, Jason Solomon who is highly

engaged in the sport, introduced me. When I first began I realised that I didn’t like

the sport but because of my friends' inspiration I continue onward. I watched Kung

fu or any karate related movies and went as a spectator to numerous tournaments.

3. As a child, what did you always dream of becoming?

Throughout my childhood, I really wanted to become a police officer but instead, I

became a Pre School Teacher.

4. How did you know you were ready to have children?

At the time I became pregnant with my daughter, I had already started my career as a Pre School Teacher where I gained my love for children. The news of me becoming pregnant was more or less amazing because I really wanted a kid of my own. My mother always told me if I waited for the perfect time to have kids I will never have kids, and I think she was absolutely right since nothing is ever really perfect.

5. How long have you been a Martial artist?

I have been a Martial artist for about twenty-two (22) years.

1. What is it like being a working mother?

Being a working mother is very hard and stressful at times. Some days good and some days are bad. But when I think about the reason for being a working mother it puts everything into perspective and makes it all worthwhile.

2. How has being a mother changed your life?

After giving birth to my daughter, Shaniya's priorities changed everything immediately. There was someone new in my life and I had to take care of this person all on my own and honestly, it made me quite excited and afraid at the same time. I had to gain inner strength and confidence that I never knew I had. However, I believe it changed my life for the better and I totally appreciate her existence.
