Feeling The Sunshine | Page 5

Two reflections by Grace Marshall Feeling the Sunshine, Spring 2020 An EHS Student Special Feature Publication I. I spent a Sunday last weekend with my best friend, Taylor, outside. Social distancing of course, we went to a park by my house, so I was able to ride my bike and she drove. I wore a mask & we met up. It was so nice to have some friend interaction because I barely see them anymore; we brought paint supplies because we both love to paint! It was a nice breezy day out but also warm and kind of humid; it was the first hot day in a while, so it finally started feeling like summer! We laid out a blanket on the freshly cut green grass and set out our paints as we talked and talked about everything we had to catch up on these past few weeks. The feeling of being with my best friend for the first time in weeks was immaculate. II. My sister and I left the house excited for the day on our way to get our bikes from the side of the house getting ready to go for a bike ride, boredom has filled us recently so even going outside can be exciting. We start peddling down our driveway, down our street, and around the corner. We hear a noise stronger than the ordinary sounds, so being curious we follow our senses and go left. Down a hill we rarely go down the sound becomes stronger and raises our curiosity, as we become closer it sounds like water which is different. About 20 minutes later we come across a stream. I remember seeing it when I was younger on walks but my sister was shocked that we had a stream by our house. Something cool to explore right down the street!! The water was very cold and seemed dirty, but it felt very good on our feet after riding in the hot sun all day. A small adventure outside is better than no adventure.
