An unexpected reflection by Ricky Jones Feeling the Sunshine, Spring 2020 An EHS Student Special Feature Publication … I woke up this morning aggravated because it is raining outside. Just like I am aggravated how this virus has changed my life. But, after thinking about it, rain is good. It helps plants to grow and sustains life. It makes me stay inside and find alternate ways to spend my day. Although I cannot find good out of loss of any life, I have decided that I am going to think of this pandemic as rain. I am going to use this rainstorm to help me grow and learn. I will help people who are having a difficult time. I will finish my schoolwork, even though it is late, and make my parents proud. The rain today has helped me change my outlook. I am not going to be aggravated, because the rain will make me appreciate sunny days even more. I did not expect that. A poem by Abigail Thoelen The sun shines through this time, Holding on for hope, The days go on, Getting worse before getting better, Seasons change, The sun doesn’t. This light which shines brighter than the darkest night. The sun can’t shine, If we doubt.
