Feeling the Sunshine, Ups and Downs
by Thomas Terhune
My feelings throughout the quarantine have been very up and down. Some days it’s
sunny out where I have a non-stressful day and am very productive; other days it’s cloudy and
rainy where I’m less productive and stressed out about schoolwork. Then there are days where
it is pouring rain and unhappy weather where I am not productive at all; I am not in a
good mood; I fall behind on my schoolwork and then everyone gets stressed out about
everything. But other than stress, anger, and unhappiness I have, due to having school from
home, I have been flourishing in everything else. I have started to work out on a regular basis; I
have started to take better care of myself; and I have started eating better as well. I am starting
to get sick of being stuck in my house all day, every day. Everyone in my family is on the tips of
their toes because we have been pranking each other so badly throughout these three months.
I also started driving and studying to drive throughout quarantine as well and it is much harder
than I had thought, but it is fun. I also have been on my phone A LOT during the shutdown and
it’s caused problems with my schoolwork; so, I have started to control my usage because I don’t
want to fail freshman year and stay back. This quarantine has blossomed a lot of new talents in
me and has gotten me better at things I was lacking at because of the amount of time I gave
gained. It also brought bad things, like not seeing more than the same six people and me using
my phone a lot. Overall though, my family and I have been staying safe and are trying our best
to social distance; we hope you’re staying safe as well.
