Feeling the Sunshine, Spring 2020
An EHS Student Special Feature Publication
Now she has trouble making ends meet.
But don’t you worry they say, you’ll feel the sunshine soon.
Young starry-eyed John
Had the world at his feet.
He opened up his own salon
At just twenty three.
But stay home they said.
You are not essential they said.
You must close instead.
Now the only thing John can see is bills,
Bills he can’t begin to pay
Because stay home they say.
But don’t you worry, you’ll feel the sunshine soon.
Those seniors they cry.
They’ve worked all these years
And instead of a graduation,
They must wallow in their fears.
No proms, no ceremonies, no time with friends
Lastly the four years have come to an end.
But don’t you worry they say, you’ll feel the sunshine soon.
As I lie awake at night
I think to myself
The future doesn’t seem too bright.
Where is this sunshine?
I am hanging on to a feeling
A feeling of hope
Hope of sunshine
This helps me cope.
Hope is what will get us through.
Hanging on to hope
Is all we can do.
Just hope that you’ll feel the sunshine soon.
