Feeling the Sunshine, Spring 2020 An EHS Student Special Feature Publication Relaxing After Doing a Bunch of Homework in Weeks of Boredom by Hector Madrigal I put my books away after I felt suffocated by piles of homework. I took my first steps outside, I am not wearing shoes so the first thing I feel is the warm grass beneath my feet, getting between my toes. I wiggle my piggies and it tickles, but it feels nice. I feel a fresh breeze as the wind blows against my face like it’s welcoming me, like it’s happy to see me outside and then it goes through the trees waking up the baby chicks that have hatched. They chirp so loudly that they make me look up, and I see the leaves rustling almost as if they are dancing while some of those rays make their way up to warming me. It’s like being hugged, just what I need to feel recharged. I now know what it really means to feel the sunshine. Acrostic Poem (Anonymous) Sometimes I wonder when quarantine will end Until the world’s people can go visit a friend No one will stop us from having our fun Soon summertime can be spent in the sun Hoping and wishing will be a thing of the past Inside the house will be no kids alas No one can stop us from going to sandy beaches Everyone's dreams will be back within their reaches
