Charbonneau Women ’ s Golf Association

Brush up on golfi ng rules and etiquette

Dear golf goddess ,
In spite of the cold temperatures and inches of rain , we long to see your lush fairways and manicured greens and the chance to pursue our LOVE OF THE GAME !
BALES While yearning to return , we are reminded of the
2022 application forms available online and in your friendly clubhouse . Even if life has thrown us a curveball and we can ’ t golf like we used to , we ’ re still able to enjoy the benefits of your game . Social memberships keep us all connected ( only $ 20 !).
As we pine to be in your company , once again , we will stay satiated knowing the Membership Committee is scheduling a lunch
Feb . 17 for all and March tee times with new members . We look forward to gatherings ( COVID-19 permitting ) to relish in the company of your other worshippers . While your golf course queendom was open for community walking , we ’ re looking forward to having the red course reopening for our golfing pleasure . We anxiously await the March 1 date .
As we remember our good times together , we also realize a need to brush up on our golfing rules and etiquette . Some gentle reminders include checking in early , playing “ ready ” golf , planning your next shot as you approach your ball and keeping up with the group in front of you . Another fond memory during these winter months is the Preferred Lies Rule . You remember , from Dec . 1 to Mar . 1 and when “ cart path only ” is in effect , we can use this special rule . Preferred lies are allowed in the general area of the course where grass is mowed but doesn ’ t include penalty areas . When we want free relief under this rule , we PLACE the ball one club length from the spot of the original ball ( no nearer the hole ) within the general area . ( The ball may be cleaned while lifted , as well .)
So , while we eagerly await resuming our regular Thursday relationship in April , we fondly bid you adieu . Til then , Your loyal CWGA membership

Sunshine Service

By JOAN VEDDER

We ’ re excited to move into new activity center

Hey , it ’ s ALMOST Spring ? And closer to daylight saving time again ? Maybe I ’ m premature with my expectations but one thing is sure ... our new facility for Sunshine will be located in the brand new activity
VEDDER
center ! As you read this we may have moved over there and ,
if not , we will be soon . MAIN FLOOR , no more stairs !
These past few months we have served a great many of you in Charbonneau who have had anticipated surgeries ... especially hips and knees . Recovery can seem slow but given time , and the help of good medical equipment , we hope you are back on your feet . Please
remember that the items you have borrowed might be needed for other folks undergoing similar experiences , and therefore we need them RETURNED !
Our inventory is sufficient for several people at any one time , but it can dwindle fast . Most people are recovered within a couple of months , perhaps a bit longer , but anything beyond that requires that you consider purchasing your own equipment for long-term use . Our team can provide you with places to buy , or rent , whatever you might need for long-term care .
Your Charbonneau Directory lists all the names of volunteers for “ Sunshine ”, so be sure to check it out . We urge you to call people toward the BOTTOM of the list ... they are more than willing to help , but don ’ t get called too often . They need the practice !!
If you have a specific question , or need , call me at 694-5637 and I will do my best to solve it .
We always appreciate a small donation in appreciation for what we do . We have no funding ( strictly volunteer group ) and our goal is to keep safe and reliable equipment for your comfort .
Happy Valentine ’ s Day ... spread the love !
