The Town of Lunenburg Historical Society invites the public to join Burt Porter, Vermont’ s well-known poet, ballad singer, and fiddler, as he presents“ The British Ballad Tradition in New England” on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 2 p, m, at the Luenburg Primary School. Porter will illustrate, with his outstanding fiddling skills, the characteristics and factors that have shaped New England ballads. He will focus on Vermont versions with a commentary on the history and art of balladry.
The Historical Society is pleased to host this free entertaining program, sponsored by The Vermont Humanities Council, through its Speakers Bureau Program. The school is located at 49 Bobbin Mill Road, behind the Lunenburg Common, which is on Route 2 in the center of Lunenburg. The building is accessible. Light refreshments will be served.
