Afternoon House Fire Story by Brian Welliver Photos by Steve Rhodes In the afternoon on Friday, January 22nd, the Bay Shore Fire Department, along with Bay Shore-Brightwaters Ambulance, were alerted for a reported structure fire at 1345 Potter Boulevard. As crews were getting ready to respond, an Islip Town Fire Marshal who was in the area notified Bay Shore Dispatch that he had an active house fire. Once on scene Chief John Ippolito [3-1-30] transmitted the 13/35 [working fire] and requested the activation of the North Babylon Fire Company for a FAST and the West Islip Fire Department for an engine to stand by. Engine 3-1-1 was the first engine on scene and its crew attempted to make an interior attack. Due to a heavy fire load and a fast moving fire, crews had to move to exterior operations.
