On the night of Wednesday, August 17th, Oceanside Fire Department’sTerrace Hose Company No. 3 and Baldwin Fire Department’s
Hose Company One held a drill together at Fireman’s Field in
Oceanside. The drill gave firefighters an opportunity to utilize tools
that would be used on vehicles for cutting through and removing
a windshield. Once the extrication part of the drill was completed
three junk cars were set on fire, one at a time, giving firefighters
three evolutions. Ex-chiefs and safety officers from Baldwin held a
critique after each burn to see what members believed could have
been done differently. The drill was overseen by Oceanside Assistant Chief Kevin Klein [241A].
