North Merrick firefighters were alerted to a reported house fire at 49 Nancy Boulevard at around
0320 hours on Friday, August 19th. Responding
units were advised that multiple calls were being received regarding fire at that location. Chief
James Rogers [6700] was among the first to arrive
on scene and was met with fire showing at the rear
of a two-story private dwelling which led to the
transmission of a Signal 10 [working fire]. North
Bellmore Fire Department was designated the
FAST and responded with Ladder 6544. Engine
671 was the first engine company to arrive and
had at least two lines stretched. The scene was
placed under control within one hour and no injuries were reported. Additional mutual aid was provided by Roosevelt and Merrick Fire Departments
and Bellmore-Merrick EMS.

On August 19th the Brentwood Fire Department responded to
a reported vehicle fire in the vicinity of Inez Drive and Spence
Street. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully-involved
dump truck. Brentwood’s 3-2-16 stretched a line to fight the
blaze. There were no injuries, firefighter or civilian. The arson
squad was requested to the scene for an investigation.
