A woman escaped injury after losing control of her car and striking
the median barrier on the Long Island Expressway. The woman
was driving westbound when the accident occurred, just west of
Weeks Avenue. The Manorville Fire Department responded, under
command of Assistant Chief Chris Lindberg [5-16-32], as did Suffolk Police Highway and Manorville Community Ambulance. The
vehicle was secured while EMS members assessed the driver who
refused medical attention.

On Thursday, September 8th, the Yaphank Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at
the intersection of Sills Road [County Road 51] and
Express Drive North just before 1400 hours. Upon
arrival of Chief Chris Austin [5-30-30], he had a
pickup truck and an 18-wheeler tractor trailer in
the intersection. The driver of the pickup was extricated, treated, and transported to a local hospital
with undisclosed injuries. Firefighters also cleaned
up all debris in the roadway and secured it for the
owner at their headquarters.

On Wednesday, September 7th, at approximately 8:00pm, Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Company 2 was dispatched to 300
Community Drive [North Shore University
Hospital] for a reported car fire. Chief Kiess
[8701] and Deputy Chief Mazurkiewicz
[8703] both responded immediately, and
upon their arrival confirmed a fully-involved
car fire at the main entrance to the hospital.
Engine 8725 responded in and quickly extinguished the fire. All units were released from
the scene within 20 minutes.
