House Fire on
Center Island

On Tuesday, August 30th just before 9pm, the Bayville Fire Company was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Roosevelt
St on Center Island. Assistant Chief Caso [508] and Assistant
Chief Rodgers [509] quickly responded and were advised that
a Glen Cove Firefighter was on scene stating the entire left side
of the house was fully involved. Upon the arrival of the chiefs, a
Signal 10 [working fire] was transmitted and exterior operations
were beg un. Due to the lack of hydrants on Center Island, a
mutual aid tanker was requested from Oyster Bay in addition
to Bayville’s own Tanker. Thankfully, very early into the operation Bayville’s Fire Boat 50M1 was able to stage approximately
800’ away from the house in Oyster Bay Harbor provide a positive water source for all apparatus on scene. The fire was extinguished with multiple lines stretched.

On Thursday, September 1st, the Locust Valley Fire Department
was dispatched to a report of a smoke condition in a house on
Frost Creek Drive. Chief Greenfield [5400] was first to arrive on
scene and transmitted a Signal 10 [working fire] for an attic fire
in the residence. Engine 544 was first-due and stretched the
first line to begin extinguishing the fire. This alarm saw multiple
lines utilized and extensive overhaul completed.
