Nowhere in Africa

Of all the films in this issue, this is by far the Editors favorite. It is so refreshing to see the story of a young girl going through trials and tribulations and coming out a strong, beautiful young lady. This film is also one of the most current we have seen in the German genre lately, so the picture quality is quite refreshing. The end is typical for that of an autobiography- not sad, not happy, just where the story is done being told for now.

Nowhere in Africa won several awards at the German Film Festival including Best Film. It also won two Barvarian Film Awards and an Academy Award in 2003.

BOTTOM lINE:

Here at Fass's Binder we adored this film. We would have loved a little closure at the end and we can only think Regina had more struggles that could have been a perfect sequel.
