DATA and EVIDENCE DRIVEN PHILOSOPHY by Bradley Porche ' Ed. D.
As we reflect upon our 200th Anniversary year, it is important that we celebrate the accomplishments made possible because of the hard work of so many people.
I am always proud to receive feedback from parents, alumni, legislators, and key stakeholders that New York School for the Deaf is a fine institution with an amazing group of people who truly care about our students and the school.
With all of our accomplishments, we still have so much potential and will continue to evolve and grow as an educational institution. I have been steadfast in the belief that every student and employee deserves to be heard and that a culture of learning which embraces a " child-first " philosophy is paramount.
We must reinforce a bilingual-bicultural instructional practice in order to foster a Deaf Centric environment, and most of all, to be a data-rich school.
Acting on this initiative, a data collection process commenced my first day on the job. This goal of this process is to collect data and evidence driven information analyzing every aspect of the program. Most importantly, we need to focus on the areas that play a role in reinforcing student learning, and the culture of Fanwood.
This includes areas such as budget, administration, facilities, enrollment, parents, districts, alumni, legislators, and stakeholder relations.
This in-depth information may be the first time this data has been collected and presented.
