The New Covenant Christian Bookstore ’ s annual Christmas Open House has been a tradition since the store first opened in 1994 , typically held the weekend before Black Friday to beat the holiday rush . The staff will be serving homemade holiday refreshments , playing Christmas music , holding drawings for door prizes and offering special buys on certain products . Typical specials are $ 5 deals or a free product with $ 25 purchase . Free gift wrapping is also available . Plus , the store will be completely decorated for Christmas with lights , garland , wreaths and a tree or two . All associates will don red aprons and even a Santa cap . The event will be announced online , on outdoor and in-store signage , in bag stuffers and on the Munce flyer and catalog . According to owners Dennis and Andrea Lovvorn , “ Customers look forward to our Christmas Open House — it ’ s almost like a tradition for them . It ’ s fun and helps them get in the Christmas spirit .”

Hidden Treasures Gifts will be partnering with their local chamber of commerce , which coordinates and promotes a community-wide Small Business Saturday event for the retailers and restaurants in the area . Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses and communities across the country . Stores who sign up are listed with other participating retailers and receive free marketing tools that encourage potential customers to shop local during the Christmas season . Owner Twila Shreves said , “ It has been incredibly successful to the point that many of us choose to be closed on Black Friday or only open for a few hours since our loyal customers prefer to shop with us during our Saturday event .”
