During the month of December , customers will be invited to find one of several 6-inch laminated shepherds hidden throughout the store each day . When customers find a shepherd , they are instructed to take it to the register to see what prize they won . Prizes vary from 15 % off of the total sale to a grab bag gift . The contest will be advertised and has generated excitement and floor traffic in the past .
Store : New Life Christian Bookstore Location : Murray , KY Date : First weekend of December
New Life Christian will be participating in downtown Murray ’ s annual Christmas event . Main Street Merriment will officially begin with the lighting of the community Christmas tree . Businesses and vendors will host various activities throughout the weekend . At New Life Christian , children can enjoy facepainting , making reindeer food , coloring and a reading of the Christmas story . Owner Karen Welch says she looks at her community calendar for partnership opportunities , which often provide free marketing and bring new people into her store .

Store : Agape of Covington Location : Covington , TN Date : Second weekend of December
During Covington ’ s annual Dickens Christmas , Agape of Covington will be offering visitors special deals , extended open house hours and holiday refreshments . This event , based on Charles Dickens ’ A Christmas Carol , invites all participants , including sales staff , to dress the part of a Victorian era Christmas . Other activities include carriage rides , carolers and a tree lighting . Guests are encouraged to walk around and visit the stores on the town square .
Store : On The Third Day-Master ’ s Mercantile Location : Pottstown , PA Date : Every weekend of December
For a twist on the 12 Days of Christmas , On The Third Day-Master ’ s Mercantile will be promoting a three-day sale on select products each weekend from Black Friday until Christmas . They will be utilizing the Munce Group ’ s 12 Days of Christmas marketing materials to drive traffic , but they will also hand out candy canes and have hot cider , hot cocoa , gingerbread and shortbread cookies .
