There is too much homework given , and therefore it causes lots of negative effects , and its quantity should be reduced . Excessive homework is not good for students , as it can potentially harm them . In my opinion , there is currently too much homework at SLAS .
The large amount of homework leads to less free time the student would have had , and also decreases their sleep time . Sleep is really important for students , and not getting enough sleep can cause various problems in school , such as being sleepy in class . With less homework , students can also do other things that can be more beneficial , such as sports .
Decreasing homework also lets students study better . I interviewed Polina Petrunya , a good student who was in SLAS last year . She said , “ My new school gives us not much homework so we have time to study for other subjects too ”. Studying on subjects can help students adedemically more than homework .
The pressure of homework can also cause depression and possibly even suicide . Students already have a hard time in school , learning and focusing for eight hours straight . Their free time is supposed to start when school ends . However , homework takes away the free time to enjoy that they require .
