No Money Should Be Spent in the Devil ’ s Games by Lukas Ma

When you talk to the average person about gambling , they ’ d usually have a negative opinion on it , saying that it ’ s bad and it can make you go broke , but if that ’ s true then why do more than 20 % of the people in the world still gamble ? The simple answer to that question is greed and addiction . Mirei Yo , 7th grade , said her opinion on gambling is , “ I believe that gambling will affect people negatively . Gambling is addictive , and when people do get addicted , they would no longer spend time with family and friends , instead wasting all their money .” Yo thinks that gambling is bad and even though gamblers might win sometimes , it isn ’ t worth

stress , and anxiety when something wasn ’ t working out for them . It is surely comparable to smoking and video games . If gamblers spent heavy amounts of money on it , they are surely addicted , and would be stressed out . Money is not worth the risk , and the chances are small . They also as well loose the large amount of money .” I think that when people gamble at a casino , they would think of pushing their luck to get a big profit , and at first , that might happen . The gambler might get lucky and win some money , this will get them excited , causing them to spend more money on gambling . But , losing will eventually become inevitable , meaning that the gambler will eventually lose , and this is where gambling goes downhill for the person . At that point , the gambler
would get addicted and become a disordered gambler , pouring increasing amounts of money into gambling to get another taste of victory , while ignoring things that really matter , like their family , friends , and business . The gambler might win a few times , but they will usually lose more than they profit , leading the gambler to financial problems . According to 800-Gambler , “ Many
disordered gamblers fall into the desperation phase , where they blame others , alienate family and friends , or steal to continue funding their gambling . They may even experience feelings of remorse or panic , potentially turning to substance use to deal with the emotional pain of disordered gambling .” In either of the endings quoted from 800-Gambler , none of the fates are good . Gambling can never solve any problem that you have , so next time You ’ re too stressed to deal with your responsibilities , don ’ t gamble , just take a break .
